Cipla is the Indian company which recently made news by applying for compulosry licenses to sell generic HIV/AIDS drugs in South Africa. It has also offered to sell a tripple combination therapy for $350 per patient per year to Medicins sans Frontieres, or for $600 per patient per year to governments, so long as the governments agree to distribute the drugs for free.

South America

Far-Manuinhos. Brazilian generics company which supplies 40% of the antiretrovirals used in that country's anti- HIV/AIDS program. Its generic zidovine, didanosine, lamivudine, zidovudine+lamivudine, and zalcitabine have been approved in bioequivalence tests. Generic indinavir and nevirapine are in the pipeline.
