Prescription Drug Compulsory Manufacture License Act of 2005 (Washington D.C. Compulsory Licensing Bill)

On February 1, 2005. Washington D.C. Councilman David introduced the Prescription Drug Compulsory Manufacture License Act of 2005. The bill would allow the D.C. government to issue compulsory licenses to FDA-approved firms for the production of generics. The expected savings would be re-invested into community healthcare. In March, the legislation passed the Committee on Health, and the full City Council will consider the bill on April 5, 2005.
